Orlando Child Support Lawyers
Results-Driven & Client-Focused Family Law Services
The state of Florida expects all parents to financially support their children whether unmarried or divorced. To that end, Florida has created child support guidelines to calculate proper payments based on various factors. These guidelines are used by the courts when child support issues arise in a divorce or paternity dispute or when a payment modification is sought by either parent.
Child support issues can arise between parents under various circumstances, all of which The Law Office of Paulette Hamilton, P.A. can handle. No matter what your circumstances may be, our Orlando child support attorneys can provide the legal counsel you need.
Child Support Guidelines & Issues
Florida’s guidelines regarding the amount of support that must be paid are based on:
- The net income of both parents
- The number of overnights the child spends with each parent
- The cost of daycare
- The cost of medical insurance
- The number of children involved
- Contributions to extracurricular activities that a parent may make
- Whether a parent has dependents from other relationships that he or she must support
The state requires child care payments to be paid until a child turns 18 or graduates from high school. In the case of children who are disabled, support payments may be required past the age of 18.
Other child support issues include the need to have a current order modified due to a substantial change in circumstances, the need to enforce an order in the event of negligence, and the need to verify or rule out paternity in the case of unmarried parents who are either seeking or disputing child support.
